The Green Bay Packers have re-signed kicker Mason Crosby. He has received a three-year extension.
He’ll make $12.9 million through the lifetime of the deal. This deal will take him through age-38 season.
Crosby was slated to be a free agent in March. However, with this extension, he will no longer hit the open market.
His previous four-year, $16.1 million deal expired at the end of the 2019 season.
In his previous deal, his average salary was $4.025 million. His expected average is supposed to be $4.3 million.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Crosby will make $6 million for the 2020 season. He will make $9.5 million over the 2020 and 2021 season.
Pelissero also adds that he’ll be the third-highest paid kicker in his 14th season.
The 35-year-old Lubbock, Texas native was a sixth-round draft pick by the Packers in the 2007 NFL Draft. He has spent his entire career in Green Bay.
He had a bounce-back season in 2019 after two questionable seasons in 2017 and 2018. This past season, he was 22 of 24 in field goal attempts.
Crosby was 1 of 1 from 0-19. He also was 2 of 2 from 20-29, while going 11 of 11 from 30-39. He went 7 of 8 from 40-49.
He also was 1 of 2 from 50-59. Crosby also went 40 of 41 in extra point attempts.
He had 106 points on the season. He had the 13th-most points on the season, as he tied Carolina Panthers kicker Joey Slye with the 106 points.
His 22 field goals were tied for second-to-last in the entire league with Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott, who went 22 of 26 on the season.
Only former Dallas Cowboys kicker Brett Maher and Houston Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn had fewer field goals in the league, as they had 20 total on the season. Maher was released on Dec. 9, 2019 due to accuracy concerns following the team’s three-game losing streak.
Crosby has appeared in 208 games with the Packers. In his career, he has made 329 of 406 field goal attempts, as he has made 81% of his attempts.
He has made 98% of his extra point attempts, as he made 588 of 600 attempts.
