Alex Laughlin has driven in Pro Mod before with his Elite Motorsports ride. However, this weekend, he’s been piloting the Caruso Family Racing Pro Mod.
He took the ATI Performance Products ride to the win. He defeated Todd Tutterow in the final round of the World Doorslammer Nationals presented by Ctech Manufacturing at Orlando Speed World Dragway in Orlando, Florida.
The Texas native went 5.671 at 251.53 mph to get the win. The North Carolina native went 6.362 at 146.21 mph.
With the win, he won the $50,000 prize. Also, like Jeg Coughlin Jr., he won the event put on by his boss.
Elite Motorsports owner Richard Freeman — who owns Laughlin’s Pro Stock ride — was one of three men, who worked hard to put on this event. Freeman partnered with Drag Illustrated owner Wes Buck and Orlando Speed World’s Ozzy Moya to put on the race in less than 100 days.
Tutterow has a slight starting line advantage with his 0.042 reaction time. Laughlin was not far behind, as he went 0.045 seconds off of the starting line.
However, after the starting line lead, Tutterow began to loose traction to Laughlin, who was then able to win this specialty event.
