Many of the Chicago Bears coaching staff have previously worked with Foles. Bears head coach Matt Nagy was the Philadelphia Eagles offensive quality control coach in 2012 when Foles was a rookie.

Bears offensive coordinator Bill Lazor also served as the Eagles quarterbacks coach in 2013 under former head coach Chip Kelly. In addition, their quarterbacks John DeFilippo was with the Eagles when Foles was there during his second-tenure that including their first-ever Super Bowl win, as the Eagles quarterbacks coach.

Also, with this trade, Jacksonville makes Gardner Minshew as their starting quarterback. Last season, he was a rookie and performed well for just being a rookie in the league.

According to Spotrac, Foles made $30.5 million during the 2019 season. He played in just four games due to injury.

He’ll now bring his three-year, $57 million deal to the Bears to compete with Mitchell Trubisky. In addition, Foles is owed $15.125 million in guaranteed money over the rest of the contract.

The former second overall pick will have to beat out the veteran to keep his starting job. Trubisky struggled during the 2019 season.

The 31-year-old Austin, Texas native appeared in four games, including four starts. He went 0-4 in those games.

Foles went 77 of 117 for 736 yards. He also had three touchdowns and two interceptions.

In his career, he has appeared in 58 games, including 48 starts. He has gone 26-22 as a starter.

He has gone 1,051 for 1,698 for 11,901 yards. Foles has thrown 71 touchdown passes and 35 interceptions.
