UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones was arrested early Thursday morning, according to TMZ. He was arrested for DWI and weapons chargers in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This is the latest run-in with the law for Jones. The authorities received several reports of shots fired around 1 am local time. Once they arrived on the scene, they found Jones in his 2019 Jeep.
The vehicle was running, but the Jeep was in park. While Jones denied firing the weapon, the authorities found a weapon in the vehicle.
In addition, Jones failed two breathalyzer tests. Both times, his tests were over the legal limit.
The authorities on the scene reported that he had bloodshot eyes and reeked of alcohol. On the passenger seat, during their search of the vehicle, they found a half-empty Tequila bottle.
Jones — who last fought Dominick Reyes on February 8, 2020 — was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, negligent use of a deadly weapon, and possession of an open container following his arrested.
He has since bonded out. He is now asked to return to court on April 9 for his court date.
Jones has been previously arrested for DUI in 2012 in Upstate New York. He has also struggled with substance abuse, including cocaine, in his past.
