The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has announced its annual class, this time for the Class of 2020. This was a unique way that the class was announced.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic that is wrecked havoc on the world, as we’re all in a national emergency, the Class of 2020 was announced on ESPN on Saturday morning. Normally, this announcement was made at the Final Four.

However, the pandemic has caused the sports world to be on hold for weeks since March 12th. The NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship – also known as the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament – was cancelled all together, along with other sporting events, while the NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, and other leagues have events on hold.

This year’s group is headlined by the late Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, and Tim Duncan. Bryant will be honored posthumously following his January 26th death.

Bryant and eight others were killed in a plane crash in California. His death sent shockwaves through the sports world.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend spent his entire 20-year career with the purple and gold.

“The Big Fundamental” is considered by many as the greatest power forward of all-time. Like Bryant, he has spent his entire career with the San Antonio Spurs.

Kevin Garnett also is a headliner. Unlike Duncan and Bryant, Garnett played for three teams in his career – the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and the Brooklyn Nets.
