The Triple Crown, like a lot of other sporting events, have been pushed back due to the global coronavirus pandemic. So far in the United States, more than 37,000 people have passed away due to the infectious virus.

Horse Racing’s biggest events normally take place in a May and June. Traditionally, the Kentucky Derby begins on the first Saturday in May.

Then, the Preakness Stakes competes two weeks later in Maryland. The Belmont Stakes, which is the third event, traditionally falls three weeks after the Preakness Stakes.

However, so far, there is nearly a month separating the first two events. The Kentucky Derby, which was originally scheduled for May 2nd, will now take place on Saturday, Sept. 5.

The Preakness Stakes, which was originally for Saturday, May 16th, will now happen on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Belmont Stakes in New York, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 6th, has not been announced yet.

When the officials from New York made their announcement — possibly between the middle of October to early November — we’ll have the 2020 Triple Crown set. These officials could make their new date official in the coming days.
