Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza has been removed from the UFC 249 card on Saturday, May 9th. He has tested positive for the coronavirus.
His fight against Uriah Hall on Saturday’s fight card in Jacksonville, Florida will no longer happen. Yet, the rest of the card will go on as planned.
According to ESPN, Souza told officials when he arrived in Jacksonville, Florida that a relative had the coronavirus. Yet, he was asymptomatic and showed no signs of the virus.
On Friday, two days after being tested, his results came back that said he was positive for the test. The 40-year-old Brazilian reportedly lives in Orlando, Florida now and may have gotten it around that area.
News 3 Las Vegas reporter Amber Dixon posted one Twitter that Souza was at weigh ins this morning. Souza posted on Instagram that he was indeed at weigh ins, which is where Dixon got her information from.
In 35 pro MMA events, he has a 26-8 record. He has won 14 fights by submission.
Eight of his wins have come by knockout. In addition, he has four wins by decision.
Five of his losses have come by decision. And three of the losses were by knockout.
Souza lost his last two fights. He has not won since defeating Chris Weidman at UFC 230 on Nov. 3, 2018.
