Ryan Leaf was arrested on Friday in California, according to TMZ. He was arrested for a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
He was taken into custody at approx. 5 pm EST/2 pm PST in Palm Springs, Calif. His bond was set at $5,000.
It is not clear at this time what led to Leaf’s arrest. But this is not the first-time that the former NFL quarterback has been arrested.
He was previously charged with drug possession and burglary. Now, before Friday’s arrest, he was working for ESPN and is also an ambassador at sober houses in New York and Los Angeles.
Leaf is the former No. 2 overall pick by the San Diego Chargers in the 1998 NFL Draft. His career was a bust in the league.
He played three combined seasons in NFL, including two seasons with the Chargers. He also played the 2001 season with the Dallas Cowboys.
Leaf appeared in 25 games, including 21 starts. He was 4-17 as a starter.
He went 317 of 655 for 3,666 yards. He had thrown 14 touchdown passes and 36 interceptions.
