Mac McClung said that where he would transfer to, it would have to be a family environment. He was not pleased with his previous stop.
He announced his transfer from the Georgetown Hoyas because it wasn’t the right fit for him. He said there were several events that went into his decision.
The highly touted prospect has been one of several Hoyas players to transfer since Patrick Ewing took over as head coach.
Now, McClung will joins the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He comes to the team after Davide Moretti elected you leave the program on May 23rd.
Moretti decided not to pursue his senior season at the school. Instead, he has signed a professional contract with Olimpia Milano in the Italian Professional Basketball League.
As a transfer, he will likely have to sit out the 2020-21 season unless he applies for a waiver. If he’s granted approval, he would be eligible to play right away.
During his Georgetown tenure over the last two seasons, he appeared in 50 games, including 49 starts. He averaged 14.2 points per game with 2.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game.
This past season before the global coronavirus pandemic shut down the rest of the season, he appeared in 21 games, including 20 starts. He averaged a college high of 15.7 points per game with 3.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game.
