Don Schumacher Racing has announced that Tony Schumacher will be returning to the NHRA. The winningest Top Fuel driver will be competing in the two Indianapolis events in July.
Schumacher has been sidelined without a sponsor since the beginning of the 2019 season. His team lost the U.S. Army sponsorship at the end of the 2018 season.
The Hills, Texas native will return on July 11th at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. Schumacher will run his first eliminations since November 2018 on July 12th.

The following weekend, he will also compete near Indianapolis on FOX.
Schumacher will be teammates with Antron Brown once again. The former U.S. Army driver will be sponsored by Global Electronic Technology.

Schumacher will pilot Brown’s backup car. He will also work with Brown’s crew chief Brian Corradi, who will be making the calls on the car.

“I’ve always been an Army guy,” Schumacher said due to his long relationship with the U.S. Army. “It was an absolute privilege to represent them for so many years, but I’m not that guy anymore, and it’ll be exciting to be the face of a different brand, Global Electronic Technology, when I return to Indy next month. A huge thank you goes out to Steve and Samantha Bryson for allowing me this incredible opportunity to get back out there.”
At this time, this agreement is just for two races. However, it could potentially lead to a full-time opportunity down the road.
Shawn Langdon has previously driven the Global Electronic Technology Top Fuel Dragster and Funny Car on a full-time basis before the sides ended their relationship at the end of the 2019 season.
