According to a report by NBC Sports, there was a potential noose found at Sonoma Raceway in California. Steve Page, the company’s President and General Manager, said that it was discovered this past weekend.

Page said that the potential noose was discovered on Saturday.

“A Sonoma Raceway staff member discovered a piece of twine tied in what appeared to be a noose hanging from a tree on raceway property,” Page said. “Our staff, on-site business tenants and local law enforcement have been contacted and asked to share any information they may have. The incident is under investigation by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department. Sonoma Raceway takes this incident very seriously and is dedicated to operating a facility that is welcoming to everyone.”

This potential noose was found just one day before a noose was found at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday. The incident in Talladega, Alabama was potentially found at some point following the postponement due to rain on Sunday.

The noose was found in the Richard Petty Motorsports stall, which is the same stall as Bubba Wallace. The lone African-American driver, who has mixed-race parents with an African-American mother and a white father, has been outspoken about social issues lately.

He got his wish with NASCAR banning the Confederate flag. He went on CNN to talk about the flag and said that he did not want to see it at races anymore. Two days later, Wallace got his wish with the governing body announcing a ban for the flag.

This past weekend, Confederate flag has clashed with NASCAR, as people were seen driving outside of the venue with their flags. In addition, a Confederate flag was flown over the track with a message that said ‘Defund NASCAR’ before Sunday’s event, which was pushed back due to rain.
