NASCAR has put an end to the speculation about the noose. The governing body released the photo on Thursday.
The noose was in the No. 4 stall for the Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama. The noose was found on Sunday.
There was some speculation as to if it was a noose or not a noose at all. The uproar caused NASCAR to send the media the photo in question.

Previously, the governing body said that they would not release the photo until their investigation is completed. Their investigation has been completed.
“Upon learning of and seeing the noose, our initial reaction was to protect our driver,” NASCAR President Steve Phelps said. “We’re living in a highly charged and emotional time. What we saw was a symbol of hate and was only present in one area of the garage and that was of the 43 car of Bubba Wallace. In hindsight, I should have used the word ‘alleged’ in our statement.
“As you can see from the photo, the noose was real, as was our concern for Bubba. With similar emotion, others across our industry and our media stood up to defend the NASCAR family. Our NASCAR family. Because they are part of the NASCAR family, too. We are proud to see so many stand up for what’s right.”
Bubba Wallace — NASCAR’s lone African-American driver despite having mixed-raced parents — just happened to be at the stall in question for Sunday’s race. Due to the coronavirus, teams were spaced out more than normal for the race in question.
It just so happened that Wallace and his team landed at the stall with the noose. His crew member reported it to his crew chief, then Jerry Baxter reported to NASCAR.

Despite the image released, the FBI found no wrongdoing from anybody at the venue this past weekend. In fact, the FBI said this had been in place since last October.
Also, NASCAR could not find the person in their investigation, who may have put the noose in the stall. Wallace has the same stall as Paul Menard did for last year’s Cup Series race.

Even Freddie Kraft, Wallace’s spotter, put out contradicting photos this week on his personal Facebook page.
