NASCAR will have a second team to show support for the #BacktheBlue movement. NASCAR Truck Series driver Angela Ruch will partner with The Wounded Blue, America’s only national organization dedicated to assisting officers injured in the line of duty, for her race this weekend at Kentucky Speedway.
Besides Ruch, Mike Harmon Racing also sported a #BacktheBlue car driven by Kyle Weatherman.
The truck that Ruch will drive will feature The Wounded Blue’s logo and their motto “Never Alone, Never Forgotten.” The truck will also feature the popular “Thin Blue Line” American flag.
There will also be a message on the rear bumper that has not been revealed yet that will support the Police.
“Everywhere you turn today, good hardworking police officers are under attack,” Ruch said. “We want to show law enforcement officers that we’ve got their backs.”
Ruch is one of a few female drivers in NASCAR. Besides being a NASCAR driver, Ruch is also a reality TV star with her husband in “The Ruch Life.”
With the unrest in our country, the authorities have been attacked at an alarming rate due to the Black Lives Matter protests. Even during the protests, police officers have been killed.
According to The Wounded Blue, there are thousands of frontline officers, who are injured every year during routine traffic stops and in their daily duties. Included in their injuries are being shot, stabbed, beaten, hit by cars, potentially being exposed to COVID-19, and more.
“We appreciate the support of Angela and her ability to use her large platform for good, to aid officers, who have been injured in the line of duty,” Lt. Randy Sutton, Founder of The Wounded Blue said. “We’re grateful for her leadership and courage in wearing her heart on her sleeve in a way that will help thousands of wounded men and women.”
