The report states that the shooting took place around 11:30 pm local time. The incident happened outside of Gino’s Pizza on Monroe near Central.

The authorities said that there was a fight outside the restaurant before the shooting took place. The police believe the argument was between just two men.

After being shot, Douglas was transported to a local hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.

“We were all shocked to learn of the tragic death of Jahnell Douglas,” Toledo Vice President and Athletic Director Mike O’Brien said. “This is a devastating loss for our football team and our University, and a very sad day for all of us in Rocket Nation. Our deepest condolences go out to Jahnell’s family and friends.”

At this time, no suspect has been arrested. However, the authorities found casings at the scene.

The casings were found scattered in the parking lot, the police said. Also, the authorities said that at least one car was hit by gunfire.

The police also said that there is video surveillance ‘near where the shooting happened.’ This is the 26th homicide in Toledo in 2020.
