Basketball is one of the most popular team sports in the world right now. Although it’s one of those few sports where just one single player can change the course of the game. It’s a sport where the individual player’s excellence can really shine through. The NBA is probably single handedly responsible for making this sport so widely popular across the world. It’s been around for over 70 years and given us some of the greatest players ever. 

Watching an NBA game live is magical and if you ever find yourself in a place like Las Vegas which is now hosting a lot of sports, you have to experience it first-hand. But among all the “magicians” on the basketball court, who have been the greatest of them all? Who are the ones who have dominated the game right till the very end? Let’s take a look at some of the legends of the NBA.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has a career total of over 38000 points which is a record that remains unbeaten. He’s landed over 19 All-Star selections and has a list of records that you could make your eyes pop out. He’s also supposedly the greatest college basketball player ever.

Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt Chamberlain is known to be a legend in the NBA world and an unstoppable force on the court. At a height of over 7 feet, he would tower over most players and has a record of almost 23 rebounds per game. His scoring average is second only to MJ and he’s been voted All-Star 13 times out of the 14 seasons that he has played. 

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player who has ever lived. The increase in popularity in NBA between the 80s and the 90s can be attributed solely to his fantastic performance.  His ability to jump and slam dunk had earned him names like His Airness and Air Jordan. He has led his team Chicago Bulls to six championships.

He became such a household name that he even acted in a Hollywood movie called Space Jam where his co-stars were cartoon characters – Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. He has such a huge fan following that recently a pair of his used Air Jordans sold for a price of $560000 as described in this article.

Magic Johnson

Magic Johnson was known as one of the greatest all-round players in the NBA. He holds a record to average over elevenassists in a game and he has led the Lakers to 5 NBA victories. His all-round performance has only ever been compared to LeBron James

Larry Bird

Larry Bird was a shooter par excellence and one of the greatest assets that belonged to the Boston Celtics. He led the team to five finals out of which they won three. Larry Legend as he was called has a number of top 10 records to his name. 

LeBron James

LeBron James is a figure that completely stands apart in the world of the NBA. His career stats are enough to give you goosebumps. He’s had over 12 first-team selections and has led teams like Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat to eight finals and won three championships. 

Some other players who are also worthy of mentioning in this list of the greats include Kobe Bryant and Elgin Baylor. Did your favorite player make it to this list?
