Despite being bloody, Rose Namajunas was able to get a three-round win over Jessica Andrade. She won the fight via a split decision at UFC 251 at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
Two judges gave Namajunas a 29-28 win. However, one judge gave Andrade a 29-28 win.
This was Namajunas’ first fight in more than a year — against Andrade. “Thug” was defeated by her opponent on Saturday by KO (Slam) in the second round at UFC 237 on May 11, 2019.
Namajunas may have broken her nose. Her nose was bleeding. She also suffered a black eye in the fight.
With the win, Namajunas improved to 9-4 in her Strawweight Division.
This is just Namajunas’ third decision win in her career, but this is the first-time she received a split decision win. It’s her first decision win since she defeated Joanna Jędrzejczyk by unanimous decision at UFC 223 on April 7, 2018.
“Thug” also has a unanimous decision win over Tecia Torres.
With the loss, Andrade fell to 20-8. She has dropped her last two fights, as she also lost to Weili Zhang at UFC Fight Night 157.
This is just the second decision loss for “Bate Estaca.” She also lost to Jędrzejczyk by unanimous decision on May 13, 2017.
