Veteran football coach Paul Pasqualoni joins Florida Gators staff

The Florida Gators football team added a veteran coach to their team on Monday. The team added Paul Pasqualoni, as the special assistant to the head coach.

He brings previous head coaching experience to the Gators. He was previously the Connecticut Huskies and the Syracuse Orange head coach. Pasqualoni also spent time leading the Western Connecticut State Colonials program.

This is his first job in the State of Florida since 2009. The 70-year-old comes to the Gators after working the last two seasons as the Detroit Lions Defensive Coordinator.

Before accepting the Defensive Coordinator role with the Lions, he was the Defensive Line Coach for the Boston College Eagles in 2016 and 2017. He also spent the 2015 season as the Houston Texans Defensive Line Coach.

The Veteran Coach also spent the 2014 season as the Chicago Bears Defensive Line Coach. He was the Connecticut Huskies head coach from 2011-2013.

Pasqualoni worked the 2010 as the Dallas Cowboys Defensive Line Coach. He also was the Miami Dolphins Defensive Coordinator in 2008 and 2009. He also worked for the Cowboys in 2005, 2006 and 2007 – first as their tight ends coach in 2005, before converting to their linebackers coach in 2006 and 2007.

He was the Syracuse Orange head coach from 1991 through 2004. He also worked with the Orange as an assistant coach from 1987 through 1990.

Pasqualoni also served as the Western Connecticut State head coach from 1982 through 1986. He also worked at Southern Connecticut State and Cheshire High School.
