Drechsel made his first appearance on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He will be transferred to the District of New Jersey.

In the complaint against Drechsel, he allegedly sought sex with the minor and had her travel to New Jersey to engage in illicit sexual conduct with the minor. In addition, he allegedly enticed and coerced the minor to travel to Connecticut to engage in illicit sexual conduct. The two also allegedly engaged in online sexual communications and he also reportedly induced her to manufacture sexually explicit images of herself, then send it to him.

He allegedly met the teenage girl in 2014 following an “American Ninja Warrior” event, the complaint alleges. The investigation showed that Drechsel began to have sex with the teenage girl when she was 15, while he was 26.

The victim in his case went to visit the American Ninja Warrior competitor in Hamden, Connecticut in June 2015. The criminal complaint says that this was her “15th birthday present.”

During the visit in Connecticut, the two had sex. The following day after their sexual intercourse, the girl came clean to her mother about it.

Her mother confronted Drechsel, the complaint says. During the conversation, the competitor reportedly did not deny having sex with her daughter, but he claimed that he didn’t know her age.

Despite the run-in with her mother, Drechsel continued to have sex with the teenage girl for two more years, including several times in New Jersey. The two had sex at a restaurant parking lot in Marlton, New Jersey then again outside of a gym in Hainesport, New Jersey.

In addition, the two continued to communication, where they continued to share sexually explicit messages. Also, he allegedly talked to her on Skype while she was naked, the complaint alleges.

In 2019, the case against Drechsel began, as the teenage girl and her mother went to the Cherry Hill, New Jersey Police Department to talk to the investigators. This caused the authorities to execute a search warrant in Hamden, Connecticut at his residence.

While searching his residence, the authorities found sexually explicit pictures from the victim in this case, dating back to when she was 14.

He is potentially looking at a life in prison charge with the count of interstate commerce to entice. In addition, he is facing 20-years in prison with the count of enticement to travel for illicit sexual conduct. He is also facing 30 years in prision for the travel with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct charge.

Drechsel is also facing a minimum of 15-years in prision to a maximum of 30 years in prision for the manufacturing of child pornography. Plus, all the counts face a potential maximum fine of $250,000 per count.

He is innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. These are mere accusations against Drechsel at this time.

The authorities are asking if you may have information in the pending prosecution, or may know someone, who may have been a victim in this case by Drechsel to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or report it at tips.fbi.gov.
