Professional hockey player Adam Comrie has passed away. He was 30.
An official cause of death has not been announced yet.
“We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of former Royals defenseman Adam Comrie,” the Reading Royals said in a Facebook post. “Our thoughts are with Adam’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
He had recently celebrated his 30th birthday on July 31st. He was the third-round draft pick (80th overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2008 NHL Draft.
Comrie has played the last two seasons with Klagenfurt AC in Austria. This past season, he appeared in 44 games.
He had five goals and 10 assists for 15 assists during the 44 games in Austria.
In his tenure with Klagenfurt AC, he appeared in 89 games. He also had 20 goals and 28 points for 48 points.
Before signing with Klagenfurt AC, he played for numerous teams in the ECHL and the American Hockey League (AHL). He never played a game in the NHL.
