Harvick sweeps Michigan, wins 2020 Consumers Energy 400

Kevin Harvick has swept both Cup Series races at Michigan. He is the first driver to accomplish this feat in NASCAR history, as these were back-to-back Cup Series events in back-to-back days.

Harvick won the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday in Brooklyn, Michigan. With this win, Harvick has now won six wins this year – all coming since NASCAR’s restart on May 17^th.

The California native – who now resides in North Carolina – won both races with Busch Light Apple as the sponsor on his Stewart Haas Racing car.

“We had a good day,” Harvick said. “Just took us a little bit longer to get to the front than what it did yesterday. Obviously starting up there helped. We geared up our car a little bit more towards the end of this race versus the beginning. It kind of showed up that way. We did a good job of adjusting.

“Once we got to the front, we were able to show the speed we had. We had the speed pretty much all race, but we were kind of mired back between third and sixth. Overall a good day. Happy we were able to give it a charge there. Just came up a little short.”

Denny Hamlin was second in his FedEx Ground ride for Joe Gibbs Racing. Martin Truex Jr. finished in third in his Auto-Owners Insurance ride for Joe Gibbs Racing.

While Harvick won both races, Mayetta, New Jersey native Truex Jr. finished third in both races.

Harvick dominated the race with 90 laps led. Clint Bowyer, Aric Almirola, Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney also led multiple laps each.

Two drivers did not finish the race after being involved in crashes. Those drivers were Blaney and Keselowski, who were involved in a wreck on lap 95.
