Terry McMillen has been competing in the NHRA for nearly a decade. Yet, on Saturday, he accomplished something he has never down before since joining the NHRA.
The Elkhart, Indiana picked up the Top Fuel No. 1 qualifier with a 3.807 at 312.28 mph pass at the Dodge NHRA Indy Nationals Presented by Pennzoil at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana. This is the first-time he has been the No. 1 qualifier in the Top Fuel ranks at a rank.
“It’s amazing because we know we have a really good car right now,” said McMillen. “I’ve watched my buddy, Clay Millican forever get these green hats. To finally get one of your own, there’s nothing like it. It’s like winning the Nationals. Tomorrow is race day and its a whole different day. We’re No. 1 and everyone knows it.”
Reigning Champion Steve Torrence is the No. 2 qualifier. The Kilgore, Texas native went 3.814 at 321.81 mph.
Dodge/Mopar sponsored pilot Leah Pruett is the No. 3 qualifier. The Lake Havasu City, Arizona native went 3.840 at 318.02 mph.
