A man, who has been identified, as Phillip A. Thomas II, was arrested early Sunday morning at a Lutz residence that belongs to a WWE Superstar. The incident happened at Daria Berenato’s home, according to TampBay.com.
Berenato performs as Sonya Deville in WWE. She is also part of the reality TV cast of Total Divas!
In addition, she is the first openly gay female in the WWE.
According to the authorities, Thomas II has been planning this abduction for eight months. The incident began unfolding after midnight EST.
He allegedly parked his car around midnight, according to the authorities, at Idlewild Church off Dale Marby Highway and Van Dyke Road. He then traveled on foot to Pine Hammock Boulevard.
Once there, he broke into a home by cutting a hole in the patio screen. He allegedly remained there for several hours waiting for the wrestler to go to bed.
At approx. 2:43 am, he allegedly entered into the home via the sliding glass door. His decision to use the sliding glass door activated the alarm in the home.
Shortly there after, Thomas was spotted by the homeowner. Berenato led with a guest in a car. While fleeing the area, she called the authorities.
He was planning on abducting Berenato. He was caught inside the residence and had several items with him including a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, mace, and other items.
The authorities have charged Thomas with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief. No bail has been set at this time.
“Our deputies are unveiling the suspect’s disturbing obsession with this homeowner, who he had never met, but stalked on social media for years,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in the news release. “It’s frightening to think of all the ways this incident could have played out had the home alarm not gone off and alerted the homeowner of an intruder.”
Thomas II has been stalking her on Twitter for some tome. The authorities are asking anyone with information in this case to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200.
His Twitter account, @Phillip80400010, including a lot of retweets regarding Deville.
