Kraig Kinser Racing has announced that they will not be competing this weekend. The coronavirus has hit the team.
At this time, it’s not clear who may have tested positive for the infectious virus on the team. The Sprint Car team competes in the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.
“Members of the Kinser Racing team have tested positive to COVID-19,” the team said in a statement. “Therefore, the team will be sitting out this weekend as the remainder of the team await results. If you have been in contact with any members of the team and are showing symptoms, please get tested and monitor your health. We are sorry for this news and hope everyone stays safe.”
The team will have to have several negative coronavirus tests in a 24-hour period in order to return to racing. With multiple people sidelined due to the virus, the team could potentially be sidelined for several races to several weeks.
Those, who test positive for the coronavirus, are supposed to isolate themselves for two weeks. The most severe cases need to seek medical attention immediately.
The World of Outlaws competes tonight in the second leg of the Northern Tour at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Then, on Saturday, the teams will head to the Red River Rumble af Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, North Dakota.
Following this weekend in North Dakota, the World of Outlaws will continue next weekend and beyond.
