Former soccer player Chris Kooy has passed away. He was 38.
An official cause of death has not been announced yet. He passed away on Saturday, August 22nd.
FC Edmonton claims that he passed away following a battle with cancer.

He played his soccer career in Canada. Kooy played for FC Edmonton during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
He also played indoor soccer with Calgary United in 2010. Kooy also played for the Calgary Callies in the Alberta Major Soccer League and Calgary Mustangs in the USL First Division.
Kooy helped the Callies to the National Club Championships in 2003, 2007 and 2008.
After signing with FC Edmonton, he scored his first professional goal with them on May 11, 2011 in a 1–1 tie with FC Tampa Bay.
