Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II had something special in store for Tuesday. Mahomes II received his Super Bowl 54 ring at a special ceremony at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri with his teammates, coaches, and front-office personnel.
He did not just want to receive his bling from the Chiefs. But he also wanted to give someone special her own bling.
Mahomes II – who signed the richest contract in NFL history this summer – gave Brittany Matthews her own bling, as he proposed to her. He gave her a massive rock.
He proposed to Matthews in the press box of the stadium as there was a “Will you marry me?” sign in flowers with additional flowers and candles in the room. He showed off Matthews’ gigantic engagement ring on his Instagram with the caption “Ring Szn”
“My heart is so full!” Matthews said in an Instagram post. “I love this man so incredibly much and today was so so special. Couldn’t image this day being anymore special.”
Mahomes II and Matthews have been together since they were teenagers. They also attended Texas Tech together, before continuing their journey with the Chiefs.
The two met each other while attending high school in Whitehouse, Texas. When they met, Matthews was a junior and Mahomes II was a sophomore.
Money is no object for Mahomes II and he spent a hefty penny for the bling that Matthews will now wear. In July, he became the richest player in sports history with a 10-year extension that’s worth a total of $503 million, which includes $477 million in guaranteed money.
Congrats to the happy couple. We wish you the best of luck in your future marriage.
For the world, this 2020 calendar year has been a mess, as many lost their jobs or lost relatives, or they got sick due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, Mahomes II is having the best year out of anybody this year.
He helped guide the Chiefs to the Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers. Mahomes II was also named the Super Bowl MVP for his performance in the game.
Then, in July, he signed the massive contract with the Chiefs. Now, he is on a high, once again, as he is engaged to be married to the love of his life.
