NASCAR driver Michael Wallace has been suspended indefinitely for potentially a comment or post on social media. NASCAR has not said what led to his suspension.

He must attend sensitivity training after NASCAR claims that he violated Sections 12.1; 12.8; 12.8.1.e of the rule book.

“We will not be going into further detail on the penalty at this time, pending a potential appeal,” NASCAR’s Senior Director, Racing Communications Mike Forde said. “However, the post you sent over does not violate our Member Conduct Guidelines.”

It’s not clear how long Wallace has to appeal the decision. He commented on Thursday on Facebook that many thought was the violation in question.

But NASCAR said it wasn’t.

“You know as I fly across the United States today I’m ready for various people’s political views and I have to say a famous four-star Military General that I spent time with in the MidEast (Middle East) told me Mike let me give you some advice don’t ever get in a conversation about politics or religion unless you are really smart,” Wallace said in a Facebook post. “I said why do you say that comment? His response it’s like being balanced on a single-edge razor blade if you slip you will get cut!

“Think about that before we all make a foolish uneducated post! The Moral of this story is most of us just repeat what we have heard; we really don’t know. Have a great positive day!”

In the rule book, it says that violation 12.8.1.2 is “any public statement and/or communication that criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition.” Besides the comment above, a gun photo is circulating that may be legit.

Wallace allegedly shared the gun photo on August 27th after Kristi-Marie Mankie posted it on August 20th. The gun photo shows that police killed blacks at 1%.

It also says that blacks killing blacks is at 97%. The picture also says, “America does have a problem. But it’s not what the media tells you it is.”

Wallace returned to NASCAR this season after not competing in the sport since 2015. He made Xfinity Series starts for JD Motorsports at the Indianapolis road course on July 4th, Road America, and in Daytona recently.

Wallace competed in the Cup Series from 1991 through 2015. He competed in the Xfinity Series from 1990 through 2015 and again this season.

He also competed in the Truck Series from 1995 through 2011.
