He will make $34.3 million in guaranteed money. Due to the Saints cap structure, they had to work some magic, while also getting rid of salaries, to re-sign Kamara.

The running back was entering the final year of his contract. During training camp, Kamara missed several practices with his teammates due to “personal reasons.”

However, it was later revealed that he was holding out to get a new contract.

With this extension, Kamara will be the highest paid running back in the league in 2021. Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey will be the highest-paid back next season.

McCaffrey will have an average salary of $16.015 million per season when his new four-year, $64 million deal kicks in. Kamara’s average will be $15.4 million per season.

Kamara will be the center piece of the offense for the next several season. The center piece of the offense this season is Drew Brees, who is expected to retire after the 2020 season.

The Norcross, Georgia native was a third-round pick by the Saints in the 2017 NFL Draft. He has spent the last three seasons with New Orleans.

The 2019 season was the first-time he was the featured back after Mark Ingram left in free agency. He signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens.

Kamara appeared in 14 games, including nine starts, in 2019. He had 171 carries for 797 yards and five touchdowns.

He also had 81 receptions for 533 yards and a touchdown.

In his young career, he has appeared in 45 games, including 25 starts. He has 485 carries for 2,408 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Kamara also has 243 receptions for 2,068 yards and 10 additional touchdowns.
