Los Angeles Sheriff Villanueva wants LBJ to match reward for Compton police shooting

Democratic Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva is asking another Democrat to help raise money for two officers, who were ambushed this past weekend in Compton, California. The police officers were shot multiple times by an individual, who still hasn’t been captured yet.

At this time, both officers, a male and female, is fighting for their lives. Villanueva is calling on Los Angeles Lakers Star LeBron James to match the reward money to find the suspect in the case.

Right now, the reward is $175,000. The county has combined to raise $100,00, while two private donors have contributed $75,000 to the cause.

“This challenge is to Lebron James. I want you to match that and double that reward,” Villanueva said. “I know you care about law enforcement. You expressed a very interesting statement about your perspective on race relations and on officer-involved shootings and the impact that it has on the African-American community.

“And I appreciated that. But likewise, we need to appreciate that respect for life goes across all professions.”

James — the face of the NBA — has been vocal on social justice matters, even when he’s clueless, as Jason Whitlock would say, on some facts in certain cases. Whitlock has caused James a bigot.

Following the Jacob Blake shooting, James claimed that black individuals are “terrified” to live in America. He even blamed the officers for the Blake despite the fact that he had a knife and refused to comply with the officers.

“I know people get tired of hearing me say it, but we are scared as Black people in America,” James said following the Lakers’ Game 4 win over the Portland Trail Blazers last month. “Black men, Black women, Black kids, we are terrified.”

Without knowing the facts and seeing just a short clip, James put his own spin on the shooting.

“And y’all wonder why we say what we say about the Police!!,” James tweeted after seeing a short Blake shooting clip on Twitter. “Someone please tell me WTF is this???!!! Exactly another black man being targeted,” James wrote. “This s— [sic] is so wrong and so sad!! Feel so sorry for him, his family and OUR PEOPLE!! We want JUSTICE.”

At this time, James has not responded. Let’s see if he puts his money where his mouth is.

To chip in to the cause would be a drop in the bucket for a man, who has made more than $500 million from endorsements and salary in his NBA career.

“Let’s see what he does,” the sheriff said. “I’ll be very curious to see what his response is, if any.”
