Parts Plus Top Fuel Dragster pilot Clay Millican is the No. 1 qualifier on Saturday at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida. Millican has claimed his second No. 1 qualifier in the last four races.
The Drummonds, Tennessee native went 3.821 at 313.51 mph in the heat in Florida. With the No. 1 qualifier, this is his 25th No. 1 qualifier.
“That was pretty cool,” Millican said. “This is a big race and we were proud to go No. 1. We’ve had the craziest racing gremlins on the car. We’ve qualified well and haven’t raced worth a darn (at Indy). I lost this race in the final round last year, and that one was my fault. So, would I like to make up for it tomorrow? Absolutely.”
Capco Contractors Top Fuel Dragster pilot Billy Torrence was the No. 2 qualifier. The Kilgore, Texas native went 3.828 at 320.28 mph.
Matco Tools Top Fuel Dragster pilot Antron Brown claimed the No. 3 spot. The Pittsboro, Indiana native went 3.831 at 320.36 mph.
