Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes is going to be a dad

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II balled out on Monday Night Football. He helped the Chiefs to become 3-0 with a win over the Baltimore Ravens.

He had 385 passing yards on the league’s biggest stage during the regular season. He also had four touchdowns against the Ravens.

Then, Mahomes II and his fiancée Brittany Matthews made a special announcement on Tuesday. They are now going to be parents.

“Mom and Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding,” Brittany Matthews wrote on Instagram. Matthews did not say when she made the announcement when the baby is due.

Also, the couple do not know the sex of the baby at this time – at least it was not said in the statement. This will be the first child for both parents.

As the baby grows, the medical professionals will be able to determine the sex. Mahomes II and Matthews have been together since they were in high school in Texas.

Before the start of the 2020 NFL season, Mahomes II proposed to Matthews — which she said yes — at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. On the same night that the Chiefs received their Super Bowl rings, he proposed to Matthews within a suite at Arrowhead Stadium.

With this news that Matthews is expecting, the wedding could potentially be put on hold for the time being until after the child is born. Depending on their plans, they could also potentially get married before the wedding is born.
