Like Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle also had to be set by points. That meant Matt Smith was awarded the No. 1 qualifier at the NHRA Midwest Nationals presented by Pennzoil at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway in Madison, Illinois.
With this No. 1 qualifier by points, Smith now has 41 No. 1 qualifiers in his career. In addition, this is his third No. 1 qualifier of the season.
Despite having 16 Pro Stock Motorcycle riders to make a full field, not all the riders are going to eliminations on Sunday. Jerry Savoie and John Hall will not make the call.
The 11th and 12th drivers are not on the elimination ladder. As a result, there will be a bye pairing.
Both Savoie and Hall have more points than Clontz, Barron, Tornow, and Arana. Yet, for some reason, they’re not able to compete.
Savoie has 150 points. Hall has 149. Clontz has 103, while Barron, Tornow, and Arana have less than 100.
In fact, Arana has just 31.
