Mario Henderson has passed away at 35

Former NFL player Mario Henderson has died. He was 35. 

An official cause of death has not been announced yet. His former high school coach and college teammate James Chaney announced the passing on Twitter

“On behalf of the Lehigh football program, I would like to extend my condolences to the family of our brother, Lehigh Lightning and Florida State Seminoles great, Mr. Mario Henderson,” Chaney said in a tweet. 

He was a third-round draft pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was the 91st overall pick in the draft.

Henderson played in the NFL from 2007 through 2010 with the Raiders. He made 44 appearances, including 28 starts. 

He started 16 games during the 2009 season at left tackle. His final 12 starts came during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. 

After playing in the NFL, he also spent time with the Tampa Bay Storm in the Arena Football League.

Henderson was a member of the Florida State Seminoles football team from 2003 through 2006.
