Virtual Game Ball: Hatcher helps lead the Red Wolves over GS Panthers

Arkansas State Red Wolves quarterback Layne Hatcher has received our virtual game ball for his performance in 2020 Week 7. Hatcher helped the Red Wolves to a 59-52 win over the Georgia State Panthers

Hatcher had 332 passing yards against the Panthers. He also had four touchdown passes.

This was Hatcher’s best performance of the 2020 season. It was his only performance, where he threw for more than 200 yards. 

The former Alabama quarterback threw for 332 yards just five days having 153 passing yards in a win against the Central Arkansas Bears.

Hatcher is splitting the duties with Logan Bonner, who has actually thrown more yards this season with 939 yards. Hatcher is right behind him with 896 passing yards. 

Before the 332 yard performance, the sophomore has not thrown for this type of yardage since having 393 yards in a 34-26 win over the Florida International Golden Panthers in the Camellia Bowl at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.

He had six performances in 2019, where he threw for more than 300 yards. He had a career-high 440 yards in a win over the Troy Trojans on Sept. 28, 2019.
