Virtual Game Balls is a new series here at The Capital Sports Report. We’re going to award virtual game balls to certain players in a variety of sports for their performances in games.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill will receive our first game ball for his performance in Week 6 of the 2020 NFL season.

The 32-year-old quarterback threw for 364 yards in the Titans 42-36 overtime win over the Houston Texans. He also had four touchdown passes and one interception.

A.J. Brown caught two of the Tannehill touchdown passes. In addition, Anthony Firkser and Adam Humphries also caught touchdown receptions.

Tannehill had his best performance of the season in the game. The quarterback – who has turned his career around after signing with the Titans – has not had a performance like Sunday’s since Week 13 of the 2019 season when he threw for 391 yards in a 42-21 win over the Oakland Raiders.

The Big Spring, Texas native threw for 364 yards against the Texans after having his worst performance of the 2020 season just days earlier. In a rare Tuesday night game in NFL history, Tannehill threw for 195 yards in a 42-16 win after having off for nearly two weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak that hampered the Tennessee roster.

Despite the 195 yards, the Titans signal-caller also had three touchdowns.
