UFC competitor Khabib Nurmagomedov has announced that he will not fight again. He said that his father’s death was the reason why he has retired.
Nurmagomedov defeated Justin Gaethje in the UFC 254 main event in his swan song. He defeated Gaethje in a second round submission win in Flash Forum at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

According to UFC President Dana White, Nurmagomedov had a broken foot several weeks before the fight.

“We’re all lucky that we got to see him fight tonight,” White said. “And I’m hearing rumors of other things that I didn’t know about… you guys are going to hear about that later when he comes out there, I’m sure. Apparently, he was in the hospital and he had broken his foot three weeks ago. He has two broken toes and a bone in his foot that’s broken … something like that. That’s what his corner was telling me. He never told anybody and he was walking around.
“He’s one of the toughest human beings on the planet. He’s the No. 1 pound for pound fighter in the world. You have to seriously put him up there with the GOAT status.”
Nurmagomedov ends his career with a 29-0 record. The Wakhachkala, Dagestan, Russia native ends his career with eight knockouts.
He also had 11 submission wins, including his past three wins. Nurmagomedov also had 10 wins by decision.

Since signing with the UFC nearly a decade ago, “The Eagle” went 13-0 in his fights. He defeated some of the biggest names in combat sports in Rafael dos Anjos, Edison Barboza, Al Iaquinta, Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Gaethje.
