In his second-to-last race with the Infinite Hero Foundation, Jack Beckman is the No. 1 qualifier. The Norco, California native went 3.884 at 328.14 mph at the 33rd annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil on Saturday at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas.
This is Beckman’s first No. 1 qualifier of the 2020 season. In addition, this is his 28th No. 1 qualifier.
Beckman – like in Dallas – is looking for his first win in Houston.
“I’ve done the math, if we beat four people, they’ll hand us another trophy,” Beckman said. “I didn’t realize with 17 cars here, [Ron] Capps would be 16th qualifier. I’m going to go over there and ask if they’ll block for us. I don’t think Rahn [Tobler] and Ron will have anything to do with that. We knew we were going to have to earn this and I’d rather take it from the No. 1 spot.”
Mopar-sponsored Matt Hagan is the No. 2 qualifier. The Christiansburg, Virginia native went 3.907 at 327.74 mph.
DHL-sponsored J.R. Todd was the No. 3 qualifier. The Indiana native went 3.923 at 328.62 mph.
