Laughlin gets first No. 1 qualifier of 2020 in home state

TexPlex Park/Havoline-sponsored Pro Stock driver Alex Laughlin is the No. 1 qualifier at the Baytown, Texas race. He secured the top spot at the race track nearly five hours from his residence near Granbury, Texas.

Laughlin went 6.506 at 210.72 mph at the 33rd annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil on Saturday at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas. This is his first No. 1 qualifier of the 2020 season.

He now has three No. 1 qualifiers in his career.

Summit Racing Equipment sponsored Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson was the No. 2 qualifier. The North Carolina native went 6.517 at 212.23 mph.

Elite Motorsports/Melling Performance sponsored Pro Stock driver Erica Enders is the No. 3 qualifier. The Houston, Texas native went 6.517 at 211.36 mph.

Pro Stock Elimination Ladder:

  • Alex Laughlin vs. Fernando Cuadra
  • Greg Anderson vs. Mason McGaha
  • Erica Enders vs. Bruno Massel
  • Aaron Stanfield vs. Kenny Delco
  • Deric Kramer vs. Troy Coughlin Jr.
  • Jeg Coughlin Jr. vs. Matt Hartford
  • Jason Line vs. Chris McGaha
  • Bo Butner vs. Kyle Koretsky

Three drivers did not qualify for the event. Those were Val Smeland, Alan Prusiensky, and Cristian Cuadra.
