An arrest warrant has been issued for former Evansville men’s basketball coach Walter McCarthy. The arrest warrant was issued on Thursday in a civil case.
He reportedly failed to appear in court for two lawsuits. A Vanderburgh Superior Court has issued a ‘show cause order’ on McCarthy.

The former NBA player also reportedly failed to appear at an August 20th hearing as well, according to the Courier & Press. He did not appear at the 8:45 am hearing on Thursday morning.

Any police agency – who arrests McCarthy – will have to bring him before the court. He can be arrested in ‘plain sight.’
The report says that McCarthy can be booked and be in jail until he posts a $500 cash bond, or taken to court to speak with a judge.
According to attorney Greg Meyer, McCarthy defaulted on a line of credit of $75,000. He was given the line of credit in 2018 by Old National Bank.
When he was the Purple Aces’ head coach, he guided the team to a shocking upset of the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats. A short time later, he was fired by the school for a Title IX investigation.
The Courier & Press says that McCarthy is back in the Boston area.
Old National Bank requested a summary judgment in the case this past April. Judge Robert Tornatta granted their request on May 1st.
Tornatta then ruled that McCarthy had to pay $77,540.77 in restitution to the bank.
McCarthy is also facing another legal battle, as he is due in court on November 20th for a collections lawsuit by First Federal Savings Bank. He reportedly defaulted on a $45,000 loan in October 2018 by the bank in question.

He reportedly owes First Federal Savings Bank $51,833.70 with interest and costs.
While at Evansville, McCarthy went 20-25 as the team’s head coach. He went 9-4 before he departed from the team.
After his firing, the team went 0-for-19 to end the season.
