The Christiansburg, Virginia native secured his third Funny Car Championship on Sunday. He won the Championship at the 20th Dodge NHRA Finals presented by Pennzoil at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He won the Championship in the semifinals when Tommy Johnson Jr. was eliminated by Ron Capps. The California-based driver went 3.906 at 329.83 mph to claim the round win.
The Indiana-based driver went 3.943 at 324.20 mph in the losing effort.
Hagan then celebrated the win after he defeated Alexis DeJoria in the semifinals. He dedicated the win to his late brother, who passed away three years ago.
The Mopar-sponsored driver is now tied with Raymond Beadle and Robert Hight in the Funny Car class with three Championships apiece. Beadle won in 1979, 1980, and 1981.
