“He’s just an incredible rock of stability and leadership and mentorship,’’ Spoelstra said during the NBA Finals last month. “That’s at all levels. It’s not just to our young players. It’s to our veteran players. And he provides just great guidance and mentorship to this head coach as well. I love him.’’

This is his ninth contract with the Heat, according to Tim Reynolds on Twitter. He cannot officially sign this deal until around November 22nd.

Whenever he plays for the team next, he’ll be the oldest player for the team to appear in a game. Juwan Howard was 40-years-old and 69 days old when he appeared in a game on April 17, 2013.

Presently, he’ll be the oldest player in the league. 43-year-old Vince Carter was the oldest player in the league last season, before retiring at the end of the Atlanta Hawks season.

40-year-old Jamal Crawford played one game for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA Bubble in Orlando, Florida. However, it’s not likely that he’ll be brought back when the NBA restarts on December 22nd.

Haslem has appeared in 858 games in his career with the Heat. He has made 500 starts in his career.

However, over the past four seasons, he has appeared in 44 games. If you add in the 37 games during the 2015-16 season, he has just appeared in 81 games over five seasons.

He also started the final game of the 2018-19 season in a loss against the Nets. He had 12 points and 11 rebounds in 29 minutes.
