Sarah Fuller is going to have her name go down in the record books on Saturday. The Vanderbilt Commodores soccer player is turning to a new field.
The goalkeeper will be the Commodores kicker on Saturday. She has been practicing with the team this week.
Fuller will become the first female Vanderbilt football player. In addition, she will be the first Power 5 Conference female football player.

“I think it’s amazing and incredible, Fuller said, according to vucommodores.com. “But I’m also trying to separate that because I know this is a job I need to do and I want to help the team out and I want to do the best that I can. Placing that historical aspect aside just helps me focus in on what I need to do. I don’t want to let them down in anyway.
“It’s an honor they called on me to be able to do this and help them out.”
She helped her soccer team win the SEC Tournament. They defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs 4-0 to win the Tournament.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, NCAA Championships are on hold until the spring.
“(Monday) I decided I was just going to take in the win and take in the soccer aspect,” Fuller said. “(Tuesday) it’s like now let’s get into the football stuff. It hits me every now and then I’m like, ‘Whoa this is all happening.’”
Fuller became an option with the Commodores down several players. Contact tracing due to the coronavirus pandemic caused the issue for head coach Derek Mason.

When she kicks down the Commodores — either an extra point or field goal — she’ll become just the third female to kick at the FBS level. Katie Hnida was the first to do it with the New Mexico Lobos in 1999.
April Goss also kicked for the Kent State Golden Flashes in 2015.
