Southern Miss. has hired Will Hall as their new head football coach

The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles have hired Will Hall as their new head football coach. He begin at the school with the 2021 season.

Hall receives his third head coaching opportunity. He previously served as a head coach with the West Alabama and West Georgia football teams.

He’ll be introduced at the school on Monday. He takes over for Scotty Walden, who was already the interim head coach when he departed to become the Austin Peay Governors head coach.

Walden was 1-3 with the Golden Eagles before leaving the school. He took over on September 7th when Jay Hopson left following the first game of the season.

Hall went 25-11 in three seasons at West Alabama. He then went 31-9 at West Georgia.

Both schools are Division II programs. While at West Georgia, Hall guided his teams to two straight Division II Semifinal appearances.

Hall has spent the last two seasons with the Tulane Green Wave as their Offensive Coordinator. Before coming to Tulane, he was the Memphis Tigers Associate Head Coach/Tight Ends Coach.

He has also coached at Louisiana, Arkansas-Monticello, Southwest Baptist, Henderson State, and Presbyterian. As a head coach, Hall has gone 56-20.

Hall takes over a program that is current 2-7 this season with the two aforementioned interim head coaches. The Golden Eagles will finish their season on Thursday, December 10th at home against the Florida Atlantic Owls in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
