Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson may have finally had enough of Carson Wentz’s lackluster play. During Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, Pederson benched Wentz.
Wentz — the 2016 second-overall NFL draft pick — was benched for the final four series of the game. Jalen Hurts — who was a 2020 second-round draft pick — sparked the offense when he was in the game.
Before being removed from the game, Wentz went 6 of 15 for 79 yards. He’s having a very bad season.

After having played like molasses for the first three quarters, Pederson made the switch. At one point, Hurts flirted with a comeback win, before the Packers scored a late touchdown.
Hurts got the Birds within 23-16 after being down 23-3. He also threw a touchdown on fourth down.
The rookie had a chance to get the score closer. However, with 1:56 left in the contest, his pass was tipped and eventually intercepted.
Pederson was noncommittal about his team’s quarterback for next week. The team plays the New Orleans Saints after losing four straight.

In their four-game losing streak, the Eagles have not scored more than 17 points in any of the games. Before the loss to the Packers, they lost three straight games by scoring just 17 points.
Hurts went 5 of 12 for 109 yards. He had one touchdown pass and one interception.
Wentz went 6 of 15 for 79 yards.
