Gators star Keyontae Johnson collapses on the court in Tallahassee

Florida Gators men’s basketball star Keyontae Johnson has departed Saturday’s game against the Florida State Seminoles. Johnson collapsed early on in the contest.

Following a timeout, the ESPNU cameras cut away from the court. The broadcasters said that Johnson had collapsed.

Moments after collapsing, he was taken to the locker room. Since then, he has been transported to a Tallahassee, Florida-area hospital.

Before departing the game, he received an alley-opp dunk from Tyree Appleby. He was celebrating with his teammates before collapsing.

The Florida players were shaken up by the incident. They were crying and hugging each other.

Gators head coach Mike White embraced his players before the game started again.

Johnson has five points before collapsing. He’s considered an NBA prospect.

This season, he’s averaging 19.7 points per game. He’s in his third season playing for the Gators.

The Gators updated his condition in the afternoon.

“Keyontae Johnson remains in critical but stable condition and will stay at Tallahassee Memorial overnight,” Florida Men’s Basketball said on Twitter. “Head Coach Mike White will also remain with Keyontae in Tallahassee at the hospital overnight.”
