Rose Bowl game relocated to AT&T Stadium

The historic Rose Bowl Game will not be played in its normal home due to the coronavirus pandemic. The game was forced out of town due to local officials would not allow fans in attendance.

The game — which is also a College Football Semifinal this year — has a new home. And it’s at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The College Football Playoff is located in nearly Dallas, Texas.

The Democratic state is still strict on its lockdown measures. Pasadena, which has the Rose Bowl Stadium, is in Los Angeles County. Recently, that county has a stay-at-home order.

While in Texas, a Republican state, sporting events are open to the public. And they’re allowing fans in attendance. At least in some capacity.

The last time that a Rose Bowl game was not played in Pasadena, California came in 1942. The Oregon State Beavers and the Duke Blue Devils played in Durham, North Carolina.

Due to the Pearl Harbor attacks, the game was moved.

“We understand the honor and tradition that takes place in Pasadena in participating in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day,” Erica Pan, acting state health officer at the California Department of Health, recently said in a statement. “However, there are no boundaries to this virus.”

The UCLA Bruins hosted the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday at Rose Bowl Stadium. However, no fans were allowed inside to see the Cardinal’s winning 48-47.

In fact, this whole season at home, the Bruins have not had a single fan in attendance.
