The Detroit Lions are going to be in a tough position on Saturday. Not only are they facing arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, but many of their coaches will not be able to be on the sidelines.

Their interim head coach and several other coaches are “benched” due to contact tracing. A player and a coach on the Lions have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Besides Bevell, the Lions will be without defensive coordinator Cory Undlin. In addition, the team is without defensive line coach Bo Davis, linebackers coach Ty McKenzie and defensive backs coach Steve Gregory.

Prince will serve as the Lions interim head coach on Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Prince was the wide receivers coach before this promotion for one game.

The former college head coach and the short-handed coaching staff will try to prevent the Buccaneers from clinching a playoff berth. If the Bucs can win, Tampa Bay will make the playoffs for the first time since the 2007 season.

Besides Prince being in a new role, Evan Rothstein will serve as interim defensive coordinator. He has never called a game in his coaching career.
