Three people were shot and killed on Saturday night at an Illinois bowling alley. The incident happened in Rockford, Illinois.
The authorities believe that this was a random shooting. Three people were also injured in the incident.
The shooting took place at Don Carter Lanes at approximately 7 pm local time. The authorities believe that they have the person of interest in custody.
“When officers arrived on scene, the shooter was still in the building,” Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea said at a briefing. “No officers fired their weapons we know of at this point, but the individual that we believe is responsible, and the only individual we believe at this point to be involved, we may have in custody. But it’s still to be determined.”
The investigation is ongoing. The authorities believe that some of the six people were shot inside and others were shot outside of the bowling alley.
The Rockford Police Department tweeted, “37-year-old white male suspect is in custody. There are no others being sought at this time. Media briefing will be tomorrow 12/27 at 9:30 a.m. at Rockford Police District 3, 557 S. New Towne Drive.”
At least two of the victims were teenagers. However, O’Shea would not say if they have passed away, or were injured in the shooting.
“We’re working with the business owners, they are on scene providing all cooperation they can to help us,” O’Shea said.
