Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Trask has entered the 2021 NFL Draft. He is not taking the extra year of eligibility that was granted by the NCAA to college athletes, who played through the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2020 Heisman Trophy finalist has greatly improved his draft stock with his season. Up until his dreadful Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic performance, Trask had an amazing season.

“This decision, I talked a lot with my coaches about it. I talked a lot with my family, my friends, just my support group,” Trask said in a Twitter video. “I feel that it’s best to chase my dreams of playing in the NFL. I’ve had dreams of playing in the NFL ever since I was a kid. So just to have the opportunity to play at the next level, it’s crazy.

“I’m so appreciative to have Gator Nation behind me. Y’all have been here through the highs and lows ever since I got here in 2016 and the rollercoaster seasons we’ve been through, and y’all have always had our back. I’m so appreciative for that.”

The redshirt senior went 285 of 409 for 4,125 yards during the regular season. He also had 43 touchdown passes and five interceptions.

He has more passing yards and more touchdown passes than any other quarterback in the country this season.

Trask broke Rex Grossman’s 2001 record when he surpassed 3,896 passing yards. He also set the Florida record with 43 passing touchdowns.

With this announcement, Trask could potentially be a second or third-day draft selection.

Trask spent three seasons with the Gators. He played in 29 games with the Gainesville, Florida-based team.
