“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is my privilege to inform you that you have been selected for induction into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America,” President George Fey said in a letter to Dixon. “Voting was done by a select group of 200 experienced journalists, historians, and Hall of Famers from across the nation. Because the Hall of Fame encompasses all motorized competition in the United States, and only one person is selected every year in each category, you are now a member of what is probably the most elite and distinguished group ever assembled in American Motorsports history.”

Dixon is a three-time Top Fuel Dragster Champion. In the ultra-competitive class, the Indiana native has had 62 wins in his career.

The 62 wins are second all-time on the Top Fuel wins list. He trails his rival and friend, Tony Schumacher, who has had 85 Top Fuel Dragster wins.

The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America is located at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
