The Atlanta Braves have re-signed free-agent outfielder Marcell Ozuna. He received a four-year extension.
Ozuna will make $65 million over the lifetime of the deal. The Braves also hold a $16 million club option or a $1 million buyout for the fifth season.
“Thank God you guys want me,” Ozuna said on Instagram. “I’m here Atlanta let’s go Braves. We all in and everything come at the time … is time to win.”

The Braves reportedly considered several other players, including George Springer, Nolan Arenado, and Joc Pederson. Springer signed with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The St. Louis Cardinals acquired Arenado in a trade. Pederson signed as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs.
Ozuna gets security with this deal, as he will not be on the move once again. He could potentially play the lifetime of the deal with the Braves.
Before signing with the Braves, he also played for the Cardinals and the Miami Marlins.
With this big extension, Ozuna will continue to be the bat behind Ronald Acuña Jr. and 2020 MVP Freddie Freeman. Ozuna should be near the top of the RBI category at the end of the upcoming season.
In his first season with the Braves in 2020, Ozuna had 56 RBIs. He led the team with his 18 home runs and the 56 RBIs.

Freeman was the nearest teammate with 13 home runs. He also was just three RBI’s behind Ozuna, as he had 53.
Ozuna also had a .career-high 338 batting average with 18 home runs and 56 RBIs. He played in all 60 games.
He also had 14 doubles on 77 hits in 228 at-bats.
For the second time in his career, Ozuna won a Silver Slugger Award for the 2020 season. He also won a Silver Slugger in 2017 with the Marlins.
